Over the past few weeks during my busy schedule I had a chance to watch both the democratic and republican conventions. As an American I don’t consider myself a democrat nor a republican. I am just an American trying to live my life the best way possible. I am a registered democrat however I do not always vote democrat mainly I do it just for the primaries. When I vote for a president or any politician I always think who would be the better of two evils. My first presidential election I was able to vote in was when gore/bush election. Of course I voted for gore as I thought he was going to be the best person for the job and also he had an awesome vice president candidate Senator Lieberman who I adored since I lived in Connecticut at the time. I thought he was an awesome individual and an awesome democrat someone who was very centered not to liberal and not to conservative. Unfortunately we all know how that election went in almost 100 years or so for some strange reason Florida had the worst luck with voting systems. Oh well that is water under the bridge. As you all know George Bush won the election. Well then we had the terrorist attacks and all hell broke loose in the country. George Bush went after Afghanistan and Taliban aka Al Queda who were responsible for such a horrific act against the US. I supported george bush in that as we needed to take out America’s threat. Then Bush had an agenda to complete what his father did not. He took out Saddam Hussein and invaded Iraq. Broke just about every international law possible and also took away freedoms of the American people. George Bush put himself above the law and allowed Illegal wire tapping, kangaroo courts, torture, False imprisonments above all he hurt just bout every friend we had in the world. He made the world hate America. That truly upset me as an American to see the world hate us as we had a wonderful history helping out the world when they needed help especially during world war II. All the work President Roosevelt did for our country and all the respect people had for this country went down the drain. Now Americans are dieing overseas and getting injured with barely no support from our world partners because George W bush broke every bridge we had. It saddens me that I am 29 years old and people that are younger than me just graduated high school are coming home with no legs, arms , loss of site , mental disorders, and a ton of other issues caused by this preempted war on Iraq. It just saddens me that our troops who I support and I honor and respect their courage are going to be scared for life. I just as an American citizen wish this would end. I know that we can’t retreat because their deaths and injuries will be for nothing but its time that the IRAQ people stick up for themselves like the Americans who gave their life for the freedom of this country during the revolutionary war. We have a tradition here in the US which is full of honor and pride and President Bush has ruined America’s honor. And President Bush was suppose to bring morality back into the white house from the Clinton era. I loved Bill Clinton and still do. He was an excellent president however he was a horrible husband. I do not condone that he cheated on his wife however I bet if you look in just bout every congressman’s/ Senator’s closet you will find something that they are hiding and pray doesn’t come out because no one is perfect not you me nor anyone we are all men/women. President Bush might have been morale to a point not cheatin g on his wife a good husband a good role model however he was a horrible president. As i stated earlier he broke just bout every law possible and because he is president he thinks he is above the law because no one will do anything about it as we do not have the power to do so. If anyone else did what he did we would be put in jail and removed from our current positions but oh well, enough of the exiting administration. I remember the second election I had the chance to vote in. It was Senator Kerry and John Edwards Vs current administration. I did not like the democrats choice for president as I thought Kerry was not for the people. I also thought Kerry was very liberal he was not a very centrist democrat however I did like John Edwards again I thought he was awesome. When it came to Kerry I liked some of his views however not all of them didn’t agree with allot of things he was for. However during this election I had to vote for the lesser of two evils and that was Senator Kerry. Now this election was lost because at the time states were trying to legalize same sex marriages and the gay/Lesbian community was very active. I don’t have a problem with gay or lesbian communities as we are all people and yes I am a christian its wrong however we still have to love our neighbor and they will have to answer to god. We still have to respect their rights as a human being and their choice. Oh and by the way god loves everyone he hates no one. I do respect your right to believe what you want just like those who are gay and lesbian I respect everyone. As everyone has difference beliefs and no one is the same but anyways that election focused on paranoia that the gay and lesbian communities were going to take over the US and that everyone would be converted over. The republicans put so much fear into the people that they voted for bush blind sited and well kerry lost the election because of republican tatics to scare americans into thinking the other guy is going to do more harm then they will. However that is wrong president bush continued to think he was above the law and now we were in worse shape than ever. Instead of focusing on domestic issues like fuel, cost of living, healthcare and things that matter the most president bush spent his next 4 years waging war to protect america as he states it. Now oil, food and the cost of living are so high that you see people living in cars and losing their homes. Its a shame what has happened. The americans are suffereing. I am not rich I am living paycheck to paycheck living comfortably. However I see whatever money I have leftover after bills dwindling away as its costing more. The rich of this nation don’t care the middle class are becoming poor and the poor are becoming destitute. The sad thing is that their are people starving in this great nation. Now I can just hear it now that we get out of america what we put in and that if we are poor its our own fault and I think that is bullshit. I do my best I sometimes i just scape by. Americans do their best and just scrape by. The poor and middle class are suffering in this nation. And the wealthy have tax cuts and the rich oil companies get tax breaks and credits and god knows what else. And their reasoning is that if they get these breaks that they will create more jobs for the people and give us more opportunity. This is just bullshit as they are pocketing the revenues from this. They are getting richer while we get poor. They don’t care about the american people all they care about is themselves. They keep the people in power who will continue to make them profitable. Both Bush and Cheney are oilmen. Senator McCain wants to start drilling for more oil. This is just going to line the pockets of the oil companies. As they will get more money trading that new oil then to keep it in the US. Companies are leaving US and bringing their jobs overseas Americans are losing jobs at a record rate. They do not care about us at all its time that america changes. Now to get to who I think will lead this country out of the toilet where it is right now and back where we should be. When I first heard that a senator that I hardly knew anything about was running for president I shrugged it off. I thought he didn’t have enough experience I didn’t to be honest know much about him. As time went on I heard both Senator Obama and Senator Clinton speak at the various forums to be potentially the democratic nomination for president I began to like Senator Obama. I thought he was down to earth, someone who I could relate to, someone who give you a helping hand, someone who had the same idea’s that I had. Senator Obama began to grow on me. As much as I love Bill Clinton I did not have the same enthusiasm for his wife. I thought she was too liberal and would bring this country down the wrong path. I like senator Obama’s idea’s for reform and change for this country because we do not need OLD politics we need new. We need someone who is outside to come in to make change. Change is not going to come from within. Ive told allot of my friends for years that change is not going to happen with all the current political garbage going on. Senator Obama is young and is new. He is not a stale represnative who has been in office for years do the fact they are backed by big business and that people are affraid of change. Its time that we take a risk and its a good risk. Senator Obama may be new to Washington but nothing is going to get done with the current status quo. We need someone fresh and new someone with senator obama’s ideas to lead america out of the toilet. I like his values and I think he is a great man for the job. And yes even though he is president congress and the senate actually make a majority but we need a strong man at the healm to lead our nation out of misery into prosperity again. So we can become respectable again. Years ago I would have voted for Senator McCain. I liked him allot I have allot of respect for what he has done for me as an American and the sacrifice he has made as a human being during his war experiences however, I think its a bit too late for his politics. He is of the same status quo George Bush is currently in. He has separated himself many times from president bush however he has not always done that. I think that we need fresh blood in the white house and that Senator McCain although he would be a great president is not what America needs at this stage in the game. If Senator McCain would of won the republican nomination back in 2000 instead of Bush I would have voted for McCain. He would have brought us out of the dark side of the Clinton era and would have probably done a better job as president of the United States. However that is in the past. Both conferences were energetic both called for change both were really good at putting on a show. To be honest most of what was said at both conventions were hot air. And most of what will come is hot air both sides bashing each other pretending that they are going to be able to do this and that. Remember congress is just as powerful as the president of the usa. They can promise us the world however their is no guarantee that either side will be able to get things done. Allot of empty promises. What really got me was Senator Obama’s speech at the convention. I sat their watching the television and aww. He had a very elegant speech and went over just bout every issue possible the other party was able to dish out at him. And he told them to bring it on. And now they are bringing it on bashing him left and right whenever the republicans can get a chance. But anways what got me is that he is very humble. He came from a very poor background, he built himself up to where he is now. He worked for everything he had he was not given anything. He values his family more than anything and that he called his grandmother his hero. He is a man of the people. I could relate to him as a person as I have similar values. And I know that is not a reason to elect anyone however I feel that he has the skills, the values, education and the drive to do the impossible and to overcome obstacles as he is a survivor just like me. He has overcome allot of obstacles in his patch and has become a better person for that and I think if we elect him President of the United States Of America that he will confront those obstacles and beat them down to become one of the best presidents of the United States Of America. I am going to be voting for Senator Obama and hope that everyone who reads my post votes for him. I know that Americans are scared and don’t’ like change but its time for change or else we are not going to survive as a people.
